St. Paul's Academics

Starting with our 3-year-old preschool program and continuing through our elementary grades, St. Paul's School relies on the A Beka curriculum and the Handwriting Without Tears (HWT) Curriculum. 

A Beka Curriculum

A Beka is a Christian curriculum that combines effective teaching strategies with a strong phonics-based foundation.  Its Christ-centered focus starts with the fundamental belief that God is the author of all wisdom and that He is a God of order.  Children thrive in an environment of order and boundaries, therefore the A Beka program emphasizes the rules in each subject, whether it be in letter sounds, letter formation, or number order.  Once children learn these foundational principles through repetition and reinforcement, they are able to successfully learn to read, write, count, and calculate.

Handwriting Without Tears Curriculum

HWT is an award-winning handwriting curriculum that has helped millions of children develop school readiness skills.  It is a research-based program, supported by occupational therapists nationwide, that teaches handwriting and penmanship in an effective-multisensory method.  The curriculum uses fun and creative instructional methods to help children get an early and enjoyable start in learning writing skills.
